Stevens Creek - Stevens Canyon

by Ed Hood June 22, 2019

A couple of days ago decided that I need to get out and in the water, Stevens Creek is the closest trout stream to my house. This little creek that leads up from the reservoir does not hold a lot of fish or large ones but does contain ones that attack a small dry fly.

Today was the first trip that I have taken my son on; he seemed to enjoy the backpacking through the trees and water. We also saw him tracking the fly in the water and taking a keen interest in the small trout that we caught. The totals for the day were two to hand and eight strikes, not bad for 2 hours in the afternoon carrying an 18-month-old.

The fishable area of this creek is pretty tiny no more then a couple of hundred yards, but it is a great way to spend 2 to 3 hours and catch and release some pretty fish. The area to fish is walking upstream from the inlet of Stevens Creek Resivor, things to remember the creek is general trout season and be kind crimp your barbs.

See you on the water,
Ed Hood
