Lower River Characteristics
- Feather & American tributaries to Lower Sacramento (Yuba tributary to Feather)
- Great for one-day steelhead trip
- Typically mild temperatures
- Easy accesses, not remote
- Larger rivers with great options for wading and drifting; nymphing and swinging
Gear Recommendations
- Rod: 9- to 10-foot 7-wt; switch or spey rods
- Line: Floating and sink tips
- Leader: 9’ 1-3x fluorocarbon
- Flies:
- Nymphs (#6-14) – Soft hackles, stonefly, caddis, prince, pheasant tails, etc.
- Streamers (#2-6) – Egg-sucking leech, silver hilton (traditional fly), intruder style, etc.
