  • —Great for one-day steelhead trip
  • —Typically mild temperatures
  • —Easy accesses, not remote
  • —Larger rivers with great options for wading and drifting; nymphing and swinging

Gear Recommendations

  • —Rod: 9- to 10-foot 7-wt; switch or spey rods
  • —Line: Floating and sink tips
  • —Leader: 9’ 1-3x fluorocarbon
  • —Flies:
    • —Nymphs (#6-14) – Soft hackles, stonefly, caddis, prince, pheasant tails, etc.
    • —Streamers (#2-6) – Egg-sucking leech, silver hilton (traditional fly), intruder style, etc.
